Welcome
Are you or your child struggling with issues you're trying to understand or experiencing stress/anxiety, low mood/depression, confusion, trauma, grief or a life change? Maybe the wound is old, young or unfathomable for seemingly no reason. Maybe you can't change your situation and can't see ahead. There comes a time when we all need help to cope with life’s challenges. Admitting this is the first step then looking for help is the next. Well done for making it to step 2!
I’m an Accredited Qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist on the Hoo Peninsula in the Medway area. I’m here to support and help you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
A Bit About the Therapy
How I can help.

Therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from both client and counsellor alike. But in the end, making small changes can bring life-altering results. I offer a genuine and non-judgemental space for us to explore and for you to be you.

QUALIFICATION
I'm a qualified Accredited Integrative Counsellor which means I can work with many different counselling, therapy and psychotherapy methods for a wide range of problems to suit client needs. I predominantly work with Person Centred, Psychodynamic, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and Transactional Analysis which allows tailored ways of working to put client needs at the absolute forefront of all I do. My Integrative qualification and Accreditation both ensure I work effectively in integrating counselling methods to benefit clients; proving more affective than working with different modalities and using one at a time. Whilst choosing a counsellor, its helpful to look for Accredited Counsellors (Accred) to prove they have worked through a process to achieve certification of working to a 'higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner' (Briitish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
EXPERIENCE
I worked with MIND (Nationwide mental health charity),for 4 years, providing counselling/CBT for NHS Dr and self referrals. I provided short term NHS work 6-12 weeks and also have 9 years experience of in depth long term counselling/psychotherapy with North Kent MIND and my private practice. I've worked with Depression, Anxiety, Intrusive thoughts, Panic, Complex Trauma, Abuse, Neglect, Grief, Relational difficulties, Isolation, Claustrophobia, OCD, problems with life changes, Confusion and various disorders.

AFFILIATION
I'm an accredited registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to the BACP ethical framework. In accordance with the BACP, I employ an excellent supervisor (like a counsellor for counsellors to ensure clients are at protected), who ensures my work is above standard. I also supervise other counsellors. I am insured with a specialist insurer.

Get to Know Me
What the clients say

"Thanks for being such a great listener. I least expected to have looked forward to each week when I have spoken freely. " Anon

My name is Sue and I'm passionate about my work and genuinely care about people. Clients say they find me easy to open up and learnt what they least expected. I'm acceptant and non-judgemental by nature. Friends often shared their surprise in feeling comfortable to share difficult topics with me, which is what led me to this profession! I have a few clients with previous negative experience of counselling and have come to me as a last resort and found the connection they were previously missing. I feel completely privileged to know this!

I aim for my honest, and transparent character to allow trust growth which aids the work. My surname is 'Badham'...a seriously 'bad' name for a counsellor huh! If only it was 'Goodham' but how would you trace my qualifications!?; so I think I'm stuck with it! ;)
Life can get difficult, and counselling could present its challenges so I always strive to empower you and give you choice over timing and pace as we unravel the potential problems together.

Idea's
Maybe it's unhelpful to be a recorder of facts. Maybe it's helpful to discover how we experience them, what they teach us and the mystery of their origin.
